Volusia Beaches Under Heat Advisory Until 7 PM

Volusia County beaches are under a Heat Advisory from 11 AM through 7 PM on Thursday, according to a post shared on Facebook.

The advisory calls for peak afternoon heat indexes of 105 to 111 degrees. The post says chances for afternoon through evening showers and storms have increased.

It also said temperatures and heat indexes are forecast to drop a few degrees on Friday, but that major HeatRisk impacts will continue.

The post urged residents to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, and avoid outdoor activities during the warmest parts of the day. It also advised people to stay in an air conditioned location, especially during the day.
